We have hosted five “Flowers and Chat” sessions in our COVID secure venue in Wistaston. It’s the “Season of Mist and Mellow Fruitfulness” so for this last one we made an autumnal wreath. We’re taking a break for a couple of weeks but will be back in time for Christmas.

Wistaston Flower Club opened their doors after lockdown for Flowers and Chat.
Members and visitors enjoyed getting together again and becoming immersed in arranging the flowers provided. They brought scissors and a mask and the flower club team provided everything else.
Everyone agreed that they felt safe in the COVID secure setting and that it was wonderful to get out to do something different. There was no pressure to create award winning designs or follow flower arranging “rules” although some tips could be passed on from a safe distance. It was more about enjoying the flowers and company of fellow flower lovers.
From the club’s point of view, it gave us the opportunity to engage with our members, attract visitors and raise the profile of our club at an otherwise very quiet time. All five sessions have sold out with many signing up for repeat sessions. We hope to use the same format for at least one Christmas event.
We have missed you all so much! We have missed your lovely smiles as you come into the hall, your happy chatter with your friends, the oohs and aahs as orchids and roses appeared and the delight on your faces as you realised you had won a raffle prize! We hope the phone calls helped to fill the gap a little and that you have all stayed safe and well. Now it’s time to start thinking about all things “flowery” again!
The committee have been working away in the background to find a way to keep our lovely friendly club alive and flourishing. At the time of printing it is not possible to meet in our usual way. Sadly we have had to postpone the Afternoon Tea until 2021 and the September demonstrator, Delyth Price, has been rebooked for 2022!
November will be the AGM but we will have to review how we hold this nearer the time. Then it will be December and Christmas…. Hold that thought for now!!! These measures are being taken to comply with government guidelines and the Memorial Hall trustees with your safety and well being very much in mind.
We hope you will support us in our efforts to sustain Wistaston and District Flower Club. We need to continue as a vibrant, friendly club and build on our strengths. If you have any questions or comments please do get in touch with Jean or Judy via email or phone, we would love to hear from you.

"Flowers and Chat"
Until such time as we can enjoy demonstrations again we would like to invite you to join us for “Flowers and Chat” in smaller groups of ten people.

Visitors are welcome for which there will a charge of £10.00. If you want to come on a particular date with your friends decide this amongst yourselves and then one of you make a block booking.
